Biography

Timothy Longman is a Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Boston University’s Pardee School of Global Studies, where he also serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. His research primarily focuses on state-society relations in Africa, with particular attention to human rights, transitional justice, and the intertwining of religion and politics. He has published two significant books with Cambridge University Press: 'Memory Justice: Post-Genocide Rwanda' (2017) and 'Christianity and Genocide in Rwanda' (2010). Additionally, he is currently engaged in a book project examining church-state relations throughout Africa. Longman has also made substantial contributions to academia through his role as the director of Boston University's African Studies Center for eight years.
