Dr. Timothy Peterson

Biography

Timothy Peterson, MD, MBA, is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. He serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Physicians Health Plan, a health insurance plan owned by Michigan Medicine, where he is responsible for quality, network management, and population health. His academic interests focus on healthcare access, affordability, and quality at the individual patient level, as well as healthcare payment policy. Dr. Peterson completed his BA in Microbiology with a minor in Management and Organizational Behavior at Miami University in Ohio, followed by an MD from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Michigan, and later obtained his MBA from the same institution. Dr. Peterson has contributed to various publications addressing pressing issues in healthcare, particularly related to access and patient-centered care.
