Biography

Dr. Timothy Robinson is a physician-scientist and radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of hematologic malignancies and central nervous system (CNS) cancers. He has particular expertise in using radiation to improve outcomes for patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing CAR T-cell therapy. Dr. Robinson pioneered the use of radiation therapy to enhance results in these patients, demonstrating safety through a series of publications that include pivotal studies illustrating treatment failure patterns in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients treated with CAR T therapy. His research indicates that localized treatment failures may suggest the need for aggressive bridging radiation therapy in patients with relatively localized high-risk disease. He currently leads the palliative inpatient consult service at the Smilow Cancer Center. In addition to his clinical research, Dr. Robinson's translational research program focuses on aberrant mRNA splicing in hematologic malignancies and its role in mediating resistance to immune cellular therapeutics. His laboratory conducts bioinformatic and bench-based investigations aimed at identifying, validating, and exploiting aberrant mRNA splicing in cancer.
