Biography

Dr. Timothy Rowe's primary research focuses on evolution and development of the vertebrate skeleton. He utilizes phylogenetic systematics to study the evolutionary morphology and development of skeletal structures across living species. His work is particularly directed towards understanding the early history of mammals and their extinct relatives within the Synapsida, as well as the history of birds and their relatives in Dinosauria, and the amniote lineage. A major tool in his research is high-resolution X-ray computed tomography, which has become a secondary research focus, allowing for non-destructive inspections of the internal structures of fragile vertebrate specimens. Dr. Rowe has engaged in collaborative research with scientists worldwide, scanning and studying the anatomy of significant fossils. He is also interested in publishing exquisite digital datasets to enhance informatics in the field.
