Dr. Timothy Smith

Biography

Timothy B. Smith is a Lecturer at the University of Michigan, holding this position since 2006. Prior to this role, he served as a Research Fellow from 2003 to 2008. He has an extensive educational background with a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, obtained in 2003, and various other degrees in related fields including a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and Ocean Engineering from George Washington University. He also completed undergraduate studies in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia. His research interests focus primarily on electric propulsion and plasma physics, incorporating optical diagnostics, and he has expertise in aerodynamics and propulsion. Dr. Smith is an active member of professional organizations such as the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Society for Engineering Education, reflecting his commitment to advancing aerospace education and research.
