Biography

Tim Watson is a part-time Lecturer in the Finance Group at Ivey Business School, having joined in 2022. He is a strategically-focused finance executive with a unique combination of senior leadership experience in investment banking and corporate finance sectors. With 25 years of investment banking experience, he has been involved in originating, negotiating, and executing debt and equity financings as well as M&A advisory assignments totaling $200 billion in value across major North American cities including Toronto, Calgary, San Francisco, and Houston. He has served as Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets and CIBC World Markets and was the head of the Canadian energy infrastructure group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. After transitioning from investment banking to the private sector, he was Executive Vice President and CFO at AltaGas Ltd., a public North American infrastructure company, where he oversaw key financial operations and contributed to significant acquisitions and capital raises. Additionally, he has been the CFO of a smaller private software company in Toronto, collaborating with founders on capital raise efforts. Tim is a certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Director (ICD.D) from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
