Biography

Tim Wright is an Honorary Research Fellow and Professor at the University of Western Australia. He has previously served as Adjunct Professor in the School of Humanities at the same university and as Emeritus Professor of Chinese Studies at the University of Sheffield, UK. His leadership roles include President of the Chinese Studies Association Australia from 1997 to 1999, President of the British Association for Chinese Studies from 2008 to 2011, and Vice-President of the European Association for Chinese Studies between 2006 and 2008. His research focuses on modern Chinese economic history, particularly economic fluctuations during the 1920s and 1930s, and contemporary political economy in China, with a specific emphasis on the coal industry. He has published numerous works, including 'Coal Mining and China's Economy and Society, 1895–1937', and articles in various journals, contributing significantly to the fields of Economic History and Political Economy related to China.
