Biography

Timothy J. Ziemlewicz is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where he specializes in abdominal imaging and intervention. He serves as the Associate Residency Program Director and is the Modality Chief of Ultrasonography. His clinical interests focus on image-guided interventions, including thermal tumor ablation, histotripsy, and surgical planning through image post-processing. Dr. Ziemlewicz completed his abdominal imaging fellowship at Duke University and his diagnostic radiology residency at Wayne State University. Since joining the faculty in 2010, he has been involved in NIH industry-funded research aimed at the clinical translation of image-guided histotripsy and thermal tumor ablation, contributing to over 100 peer-reviewed publications and regularly presenting at international meetings. He currently acts as co-Principal Investigator for the #HOPE4Liver histotripsy trial and serves as a section editor for thermal ablation in the International Journal of Hyperthermia. Outside of his professional pursuits, he enjoys music, musical theater, spending time with his family, brewing beer, and following Detroit sports teams, particularly Michigan football.
