Biography

Tina Vilsbøll is a Clinical Professor in Endocrinology and Research Leader at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen. She graduated as a Medical Doctor from the University of Copenhagen in 1995 and earned her Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 2004. Vilsbøll has been involved in clinical research since 1997 and in 2004 established the Center for Diabetes Research at Gentofte Hospital, University of Copenhagen. Her research has primarily focused on the pathophysiology of obesity, prediabetes, and type 2 diabetes, as well as the regulation of appetite and food intake. Recently, there has been a significant focus on the integration of gut understanding with human glucose metabolism in her lab. She has published over 450 scientific articles and has an H-index of 86. Vilsbøll is actively involved as an Honorary Secretary and board member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), and frequently represents her field as an invited speaker at international meetings. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she supervises PhD students conducting diabetes research and holds memberships in numerous professional societies. Vilsbøll has received research funding from prominent organizations including the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Eli Lilly.
