Biography

Tinashe Nyamunda is a lecturer in Contemporary Economic History at the University of Glasgow’s School of Social and Political Sciences. His research specialization includes African Economic History with a focus on the intersections of history, political economy, money, and finance in Southern Africa, particularly through the study of parallel markets and artisanal mining. His scholarly contributions include co-editing 'Facets Power: Politics, Profits, People Making Zimbabwe’s Blood Diamonds,' which discusses the implications of the diamond trade on Zimbabwe’s economy and highlights the predatory practices of the state regarding natural resources. Throughout his career, Nyamunda has been awarded several fellowships and has served in various academic capacities across leading universities in Zimbabwe and South Africa. His current projects encompass transnational issues affecting African economies and social structures.
