Biography

Ting Cao’s research employs quantum physics and advanced materials modeling techniques to study materials science with a focus on condensed matter physics. His work emphasizes electronic structures of materials, excited-state phenomena, and light-matter interactions. Currently, Dr. Cao's research interest lies in exploring the distinct physical properties of one- and two-dimensional material systems that have potential applications in future technologies. He received his PhD degree in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2018. His notable publications include research on topological band engineering in graphene nanoribbons and unifying optical selection rules for excitons. He has also contributed to studies on tunable excitons in bilayer graphene and the transport properties of twisted bilayer black phosphorus. Dr. Cao has been recognized for his contributions to understanding magnetism in materials and for developing methods in molecular bandgap engineering.
