Ting Zou graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University (China) with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 2005 and a Master of Engineering in Automation in 2008. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University in 2013, focusing on mechanism design and fabrication of innovative bi-axial accelerometers based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) to ease current rigid-body pose estimation. After completing his PhD, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Intelligent Machines at McGill University, where he primarily engaged in research projects related to the optimum design of next-generation multi-speed transmissions for electric vehicles and nonlinear motion control for autonomous tracked vehicles in mining operations. In 2018, he joined the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His current research interests include mechanism design for robotic mechanical systems, biologically inspired robots, mobile robots, nonlinear control, state estimation for robotic systems, advanced human-machine interaction, applied machine learning in robotics, intelligent manufacturing, and oceanic robots.
