Tingting Zhu graduated with a DPhil in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Oxford in 2016, following an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from University College London and a BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Malta. Professor Zhu was appointed a full Member of the Faculty in 2019 after receiving the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship. Her research interests focus on the application of machine learning in healthcare, specifically developing probabilistic techniques for reasoning about time-series medical data. She emphasizes Bayesian inference and deep learning methodologies in her work, which is particularly geared towards understanding complex patient data and addressing health issues in developing countries. Professor Zhu is actively involved in a variety of machine learning projects aimed at improving decision-making in telemedicine, prognosis and diagnosis in multi-morbid populations, and enhancing early cancer detection, among other topics. She encourages prospective DPhil students to reach out with their interests in her research area.
