Dr. Tirsit Asfaw

Biography

Tirsit S. Asfaw is an Urogynecologist specializing in the care of women with pelvic floor weaknesses resulting in conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse and bladder dysfunction. She is part of a network supporting the pelvic structures that can weaken with age, childbirth, or obesity. Dr. Asfaw utilizes a variety of treatment modalities, including robotic, abdominal, and vaginal reconstructive surgery, to offer personalized care with effective long-term results and quick recovery. She has a strong interest in clinical and basic science research, presenting her work at numerous national meetings and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Asfaw is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Her education includes a medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and a B.S. from Washington State University. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University and a fellowship in Urogynecology Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Asfaw holds dual appointments in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Urology at Weill Cornell Medical College.
