Biography

Tish King is a registered nurse with extensive experience in nursing education. She graduated with her Bachelor of Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1989 and completed her Master's degree in nursing at the University of Saskatchewan in 1994. Her thesis focused on a qualitative study regarding nursing students' perceptions of clinical triad preceptorial relationships. Tish's passion lies in humanistic, student-centered, responsive nursing education. She has a rich clinical background, especially in pediatrics, including pediatric critical care, neonatal critical care, adult critical care, school health, and community health nursing. Tish teaches courses related to family nursing, assessment, leadership, and community health practice, and is actively engaged in school-based health promotion. She has developed community partnerships and led various health initiatives, including the Safe School Health Improvement Project, which has been recognized for its excellence in teaching. Tish embraces a teaching philosophy rooted in empowerment, critical social theory, and inclusive education, focusing on mentorship and learner engagement.
