Biography

Titima Suthiwan holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Thai Language Literature from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Hawaii, USA. She joined the Southeast Asian Studies Programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1998, where she coordinates the Thai language program as part of the Centre for Language Studies, which is recognized as the world's largest and fastest-growing Thai foreign language program. Before her tenure at NUS, Suthiwan taught and coordinated Thai language programs at several universities in the USA, including the University of Hawaii, University of Washington, Arizona State University, and University of Oregon, where she also coordinated the Laos and Khmer language programs. Her research interests span Southeast Asian historical linguistics, poetry, and translation.
