Dr. Tjark Vredeveld

Biography

Tjark Vredeveld is a professor in Planning and Scheduling at Maastricht University, where he has been a prominent figure in the School of Business and Economics since 2005. He obtained his PhD in Mathematics from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2002 and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral fellow at La Sapienza University in Rome, followed by a research position at the Zuse Institute in Berlin. His research focuses on discrete optimization, particularly in scheduling and resource allocation, emphasizing the complexity and design of approximation algorithms. Vredeveld has been an influential member of various academic boards, including the executive board of the Dutch Network on Mathematics and Operations Research (LNMB) and the Mathematics Centre Maastricht. His work includes guest professorships at international institutions, and his expertise extends to combinatorial optimization and logistics. He continues to contribute significantly to his field with ongoing research and collaboration in higher education.
