Tobias Eckhause is a Lecturer IV in the Department of Physics at the University of Michigan. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California-Santa Barbara in 2001 and his B.A. in Physics from Cornell University in 1994. Since joining the department in 2001, he has worked as a research fellow focusing on measuring the vibrational optical response of specially designed two-dimensional quantum structures. His research interests encompass induced superconductivity in semiconductors and the far-infrared response in superconductor-semiconductor structures. Currently, he is engaged in improving the validation and delivery of ionizing radiation in medical linear accelerators. In 2004, he began teaching introductory physics courses, where he prioritizes encouraging peer instruction and developing exciting and relevant curricula.
