Biography

Tobias Jammerthal is a Professor of Church History and Theology at the University of Zurich, leading the Institute for Swiss Reformation History. He was born in 1989 in Karlsruhe-Rüppur and studied Protestant Theology in Neuendettelsau, Tübingen, Jerusalem, and Durham, where he obtained his Master of Arts in Theology and Religion in 2014. He served as a research assistant at the Chair for Church History at Augustana Hochschule Neuendettelsau from 2020 to 2023. In September 2023, he was appointed to his current position at the University of Zurich. His research interests include Swiss Reformation history, reformational biblical interpretation, and the history of the Eucharist.
