Tobias J. Kippenberg is a Full Professor in Physics at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and leads the Laboratory of Photonics Quantum Measurements. He obtained his Master of Science and PhD from the California Institute of Technology. His research interests focus on experimental and theoretical photonics, particularly in high Q optical microcavities, cavity quantum optomechanics, and frequency metrology. Kippenberg has significantly contributed to the development of chip-scale Kerr frequency comb generation and observed radiation pressure backaction effects in microresonators. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Helmholtz Prize and the Swiss National Latsis Award. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers, earning him a recognition as a highly cited researcher in Physics. Kippenberg has also served in various academic positions, including as an Associate Professor and Tenure Track Assistant Professor at EPFL.
