Biography

Tobias Kretschmer is a Professor of Strategy and Technology Organization at Imperial College Business School. He holds a PhD in Economics from London Business School and an MSc in Strategy from the University of St. Gallen. Prior to joining Imperial, he held full-time positions at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, London School of Economics and INSEAD. His research focuses on competitive strategy in digital industries, especially platform markets and the digital transformation of organizations. His work has been published in prestigious journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science, American Economic Review, Marketing Science, and Information Systems Research. He has also taken on editorial positions for Strategy Science and the International Journal of Industrial Organization, while serving in leadership roles within the Academy of Management’s Technology Innovation Management Division and as Vice Chair for the Organization Design Community. Kretschmer has been a visiting scholar at various institutions, including the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London and NOVA SBE in Lisbon, and has held visiting positions at Bocconi University and University College London.
