Dr. Tobias Kurwinkel

Biography

Tobias Kurwinkel is a professor at the Institute of German Studies at the University of Hamburg. His research focuses on contemporary German literature, particularly children's and youth cultures. He is particularly interested in the history and motifs of children's literature and media, picture books, and children's and youth films. Additionally, he explores literary theory with an emphasis on intertextuality, intermediality, and transmediality. His work also covers literature from the Goethe period, the Fin de Siècle, and Decadence. Professor Kurwinkel is the deputy managing director of the Institute of German Studies and actively engages in academia through his teaching and research.
