Professor Dr. Tobias Schoenherr

Biography

Tobias Schoenherr is the Hoagland-Metzler Endowed Professor in the Purchasing Supply Management Department at Michigan State University (MSU) Broad College of Business. A leading expert in supply chain management, he has been recognized as one of the top thought leaders in global supply chain management research. His scholarly work focuses on areas including innovation, buyer-supplier relationships, and supply management. Professor Schoenherr has taught a wide range of courses in purchasing, operations, and supply chain management at both undergraduate and graduate levels across several institutions worldwide. He holds a Ph.D. in Operations Management and Decision Sciences from Indiana University, where he also completed his undergraduate and master's degrees. His research has been published in over 75 peer-reviewed journals, and he has received multiple awards for his contributions to the field, including the John D. Dortha J. Withrow Endowed Emerging Scholar Award and the MSU Teacher-Scholar Award. Additionally, he serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Operations & Production Management. His work engages with contemporary challenges in supply chain management and aims to enhance understanding and teaching in this vital area.
