Dr. Toby Chai

Biography

Toby C. Chai, MD, is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He is recognized as a leading expert in the field of urology, with a focus on female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Chai has made significant contributions to the field, serving as PI for various NIH grants and authoring over 150 peer-reviewed papers and medical texts. Before his current role, he held the John D. Young Professorship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and served previously as a Professor in Urology at Yale University. His accolades include the Victor Politano Award from the American Urological Association and the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction. Dr. Chai has also held leadership positions including President of Boston University Medical Center Urologists, Inc. His academic training includes an MD from Indiana University School of Medicine and urology residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He has been actively involved in educational and mentorship roles within the medical field, dedicating efforts to advancing urological research and training future healthcare professionals.
