Tod Waight obtained his Ph.D. in 1995 from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, focusing on geology, petrography, geochemistry, and geochronology of relatively unstudied granitic rocks from the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, where he worked on the geochemistry and petrology of the Ruapehu Volcano and Lachlan Fold Belt Granites. He later moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he contributed to various projects at the Danish Lithosphere Centre (DLC) related to granites, geochemistry of Icelandic Basalts, and studies of the Central East Greenland Igneous Province. Over the years, he served as lab manager for DLC's Axiom multi-collector ICPMS. He joined the University of Copenhagen in 2003 as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Professor in 2014. His research interests include Igneous Petrology, high-temperature geochemistry, isotope geochemistry, geochronology, volcanism, regional tectonics, and mineral chemistry.
