Biography

Todd Brun received his Ph.D. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1994. He has worked at the University of London, Institute of Theoretical Physics, Santa Barbara, and Carnegie Mellon University, as well as the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. He joined the faculty of the University of Southern California (USC) in 2003 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2006 and Full Professor in 2013. He holds a primary appointment in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and joint appointments in the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science and the Department of Physics and Astronomy. At USC, Brun has served in various leadership capacities, including Associate Chair for Electrical Engineering from 2007 to 2009, Vice Chair in 2015/16, and Chair of the Engineering Faculty Council from 2018 to 2020. He also served as a Senator in the USC Academic Senate for the Viterbi School of Engineering and has held significant roles in the American Physical Society's Division of Quantum Information.
