Biography

Todd Gingrich is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Northwestern University. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the California Institute of Technology in 2008, followed by a Master of Science at Oxford University in 2010, and received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2015. His research group applies analytical computational methods to problems in statistical mechanics, stochastic thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, and biophysics. Specifically, they seek principles and numerical techniques to describe nonequilibrium chemical dynamics, inspired by biological systems that utilize chemical fuels to drive nonequilibrium processes. The group aims to develop tools that aid in designing artificial systems with similar capabilities. Gingrich has published various significant papers in prominent journals, contributing to the field of nonequilibrium molecular dynamics and thermodynamic relationships.
