Dr. Todd Hickey

Biography

Todd Hickey is a prominent scholar in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies, currently serving as the Director of the Center for Tebtunis Papyri at the University of California, Berkeley. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Hickey's early life in rural environments shaped his scholarly interests in ancient societies. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1990, followed by a PhD from the University of Chicago in 2001. His academic career began at Berkeley as a founding curator of the Center for Tebtunis Papyri. Since 2004, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Classics. Hickey has authored and co-authored numerous publications, including books and articles focused on papyrology, cultural heritage ethics, and late antiquity, contributing significant work to the field. He actively engages in research, reflecting his dedication to advancing understanding of ancient texts and societies.
