Dr. Todd Woodward

Biography

Todd Woodward is a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania's Stuart Weitzman School of Design and a Principal at SMP Architects. He has been recognized as a nationally acknowledged leader in environmentally responsible design. Within his role at SMP Architects, Todd has led numerous environmentally sustainable projects across a variety of domains including educational institutions, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. He teaches a seminar class on Ecological Architecture at the university, emphasizing the integration of sustainable practices in architectural design. Todd also served as the founding co-chair of the Editorial Board for the journal Context, published by AIA Philadelphia. In 2020, he received the Alan Greenberger Award from AIA Philadelphia’s Community Design Collaborative for over twenty years of commitment to collaborative design efforts. Additionally, he has been active in community service, serving as a longtime member of the Board of Directors for Mount Airy Baseball. Todd co-edited the book 'LEVERAGE: Strengthening Neighborhoods through Design,' showcasing his dedication to strengthening community ties through thoughtful architectural practices. His significant projects have included collaborations with Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, contributing to impactful sites such as the Falls Visitor Center at Ohiopyle State Park. His ongoing efforts in master planning at Susquehanna Riverlands State Park highlight his commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
