Biography

Tohid Ghanbari-Ghazijahani completed his BEng in Civil Engineering, MEng in Structural Engineering, and PhD at the University of Tasmania. He has received awards including the Dean's Faculty's Exceptional Research Performance Award. Tohid joined Macquarie University in Sydney in 2022 as a Lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2025, specializing in Civil-Structural Engineering. He previously held positions as a Teaching-Research Fellow at KU Leuven in Belgium, and as a Research Associate at the University of South Australia. Tohid has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles, including 40 journal papers in leading journals in Structural Engineering. He is interested in PhD and Masters applicants with strong CVs, as well as in collaboration opportunities in Structural Engineering. Additionally, Tohid has supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate students and is actively involved in various research projects and initiatives focused on innovative structural solutions. His recognition includes becoming a Teaching Fellow under Advance (UK) in 2024 and receiving the Distinguished Lecturer Award at PNU University in 2013. Tohid's research interests include experimental techniques in Structural Engineering, 3D printing in construction, design and stability of thin-walled structures, and numerical simulations, particularly related to fatigue and cyclic experiments.
