Biography

Tolga Birdal is an Assistant Professor and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London, where he leads the CIRCLE group. His research focuses on topological deep learning, geometric machine learning, and 3D computer vision. He investigates the limits of geometric computing and non-Euclidean inference principles within deep learning. His industrial collaborations include projects such as the UKRI-EPSRC-funded UNTOLD and the Royal Society project on Topological Deep Learning for Drug Discovery. Tolga has been involved in significant academic events, serving as Area Chair for prominent computer vision conferences including CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV, and as publication chair for 3DV 2025. He has published in notable venues such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, and ICML. Prior to this position, he was a senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University and completed his PhD and MSc at the Technical University of Munich.
