Biography

Tom Bendsten was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and raised in Canada. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto before earning his Master of Fine Arts degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2003. His work has been exhibited in several notable galleries, including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY, Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ, and the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge. He has also participated in exhibitions at the Koffler Gallery and Mercer Union in Toronto. As a featured artist, Bendsten showcased his work during Toronto's Nuit Blanche in 2008 and the Luminato festivals in 2009. His films have been widely screened across Europe, Canada, and the USA. He received grants from the Ontario Arts Council in Toronto in 2006 and was awarded the Chalmers Art Fellowship. Currently, he resides and works in Philadelphia.
