Biography

Tom Daniels directs the concentration in Land Use Environmental Planning at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania. He administers the Certificate in Land Preservation and the Certificate in Ecological Planning. As a consultant, he has worked with state and local governments and land trusts to promote effective planning and decision-making in small cities and towns. In 2010, he was named the Clarkson Chair at the State University of New York at Buffalo, in recognition of his contributions as a leading academic in land use planning in the United States. Tom is well-known as one of the leading thinkers and practitioners in farmland preservation and has managed a prominent farmland preservation program in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He has co-authored significant publications, including 'Holding Ground: Protecting America’s Farms and Farmland' and 'Law and Agricultural Land Preservation in the United States.' His teaching experience includes courses such as Introduction to Land Use Planning and Sustainability Environmental Planning.
