Dr. Tom Heskes

Biography

Tom Heskes researches artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. He employs probability theory and statistics to develop and gain an understanding of new data science methods. His specific interest lies in causal discovery, focusing on how to determine cause and effect within large datasets. Heskes has developed techniques that are utilized in various projects, particularly within the healthcare industry. Furthermore, he is a director and co-founder of spin-off companies and has extensive experience working on practical applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning. He is also closely involved in the Master's specialization in Data Science and is the initiator of the Radboud AI research theme. Heskes's research group addresses key challenges in data science, integrating concepts from AI, machine learning, and neural networks.
