Dr. Tom Kwon

Biography

Tom Kwon is an Assistant Professor at the UCL School of Management, specializing in strategy and entrepreneurship. His research focuses on technology strategy and industry emergence, particularly examining how firms adapt their innovation activities in high-uncertainty environments, such as in the nascent fields of autonomous vehicles and robotics. Tom's work has been recognized as a selected PhD Paper Finalist at the Strategic Management Society Annual Conference and has received the Mitchell Dissertation Research Grant, along with the Greif Entrepreneurship Research Award. He also holds a Teaching Excellence Award from USC Marshall, where he earned his PhD in Management and Organization. Prior to his doctoral studies at USC, Tom obtained his PhD in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University, specializing in technology management, and received his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, with a minor in Management and Entrepreneurship.
