Dr. Tom Moliterno

Biography

Tom Moliterno is a Full Professor in Behavioral Strategy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in human capital and strategic decision-making. He has published extensively in leading academic journals including Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal. His scholarly contributions include co-editing the Handbook of Research on Strategic Human Capital Resources published by Edward Elgar Publishing in 2019. Over the years, he has served in various administrative roles, including Interim Dean during his tenure at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he held the Earl W. Stafford Endowed Professorship. Prior to this, he was a faculty member at the University of South Carolina from 2005 to 2011 and has also been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Amsterdam Business School. Tom earned his Ph.D. from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine, in 2005, and holds an M.B.A. in Public Non-Profit Management from Boston University (1999). In addition to his research, he teaches courses on Business Model Innovation, Business Policy & Strategy, and Strategic Management at both undergraduate and graduate levels, integrating practical insights into his curriculum. His recent editorial work includes being a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Management and acting as a guest editor for a forthcoming special issue of the Academy of Management Discoveries.
