Biography

Tom Najem is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Windsor. He holds a Ph.D. from Durham University (UK) obtained in 1997, an M.A. from the University of Windsor in 1993, and a B.A. from the University of Windsor in 1991. His research interests are primarily in the fields of comparative politics, international relations, and the politics of the developing world. Najem has significantly focused on Middle Eastern politics, exploring themes such as international intervention in civil conflict, the responsibility to protect (R2P), and the role of media in conflict scenarios. He aims to contribute traditional academic knowledge through peer-reviewed publications while also engaging with policy-makers to produce work that is relevant for practical application. His recent publications include several works addressing historical and contemporary political issues in Lebanon and conflict resolution strategies in the Middle East.
