Biography

Tom Parr is a Reader in Political Theory at the University of Warwick. He joined the Politics and International Studies department in September 2019. Previously, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Government at the University of Essex and has held visiting positions at the University of Graz, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and Princeton University. His research interests focus on contemporary political philosophy, particularly addressing normative questions that lie at the intersection of philosophy, politics, and economics. Tom's work has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Business Ethics, Legal Theory, Philosophy & Public Affairs, and Political Studies. His recent publications include the book 'Introducing Political Philosophy: A Policy-Driven Approach' published in 2021 by Oxford University Press and another titled 'Empowering Workers in an Age of Automation' set to be released in 2025. He actively engages in teaching and is interested in supervising doctoral theses on topics related to contemporary political philosophy, economic justice, artificial intelligence and future labor, the gender pay gap, feminist analyses of economic arrangements, and the morality of political public shaming.
