Biography

Thomas Wiebe is a cellist, regularly performing as a soloist and chamber musician. He is scheduled to perform with the ARC Ensemble in venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Merkin Hall in New York, and La Salle Bourgie in Montreal. His discography includes world-premiere recordings of works by Ernest Kanitz and chamber music of Omar Daniel. Wiebe studied cello in his hometown of Winnipeg under Julie Banton and furthered his education at the Eastman School of Music, Yale University, and the Juilliard School. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Yale. As an Associate Professor of Violoncello at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University, his teaching influences the next generation of musicians, underlining the importance of both performance and academic disciplines in music education.
