Tom graduated from the University of St Andrews with an Honours Degree in Medicine (Health Policy) and completed his Medical Degree at the University of Glasgow in 2017. Following this, he underwent the Foundation Programme in Yorkshire and received training in Trauma & Orthopaedics at Imperial College and Guys' & St Thomas' NHS Trusts. During this time, Tom completed a Master's Degree in Surgical Innovation at Imperial College, where he joined the MSK Lab as an Honorary Research Fellow. His research primarily focuses on stakeholder attitudes towards the adoption of artificial intelligence in clinical practice, as well as developing novel algorithmic decision-making support in skeletal radiology. He currently works as the Medical Director of Pharmaceutical Medicine, with specialist interests in Gene Therapy, Genomics, and Clinical Informatics. Tom is also involved in developing machine learning techniques to inform the grading of adverse events and has established studies on the use of auto-injectors to deliver investigational medicinal products. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and an Associate Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, serving on the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine's Expert Advisory Group for Medical Devices, Diagnostics, and Digital Health.
