Biography

Tom Zajdel is an Assistant Teaching Professor in Electrical Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He is broadly interested in motivating students to study electronics engineering. He has taught courses in circuits, amateur radio, introductory mechanics, technical writing, and engineering design. His technical background includes fabricating bioelectronic interfaces for biosensing and medical applications. Before joining CMU, Tom was a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University, where he worked on electrical sheep-herding of biological tissues. He completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2018, and he earned his BS in Electrical Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University in 2012. Tom discovered his passion for teaching while serving as an undergraduate Teaching Assistant in OSU's first-year engineering program, where he engaged in curriculum development and various teaching projects.
