Biography

Tommaso Bondi is an assistant professor at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. He is an affiliated faculty member of Cornell Tech's Digital Life Initiative and a research fellow at CESifo. Bondi's research primarily revolves around the economics of digitization. His recent work has involved investigating the role of online reviews in consumer choice and market structure, as well as the strategies independent brick-and-mortar retailers adopt to compete against online giants like Amazon. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Milan in 2011, a Master of Science in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in 2013, and a PhD in Economics from NYU's Stern School of Business in 2020, under the supervision of Luís Cabral. In the spring of 2014, he was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. Bondi was the recipient of the Marco Fanno Scholarship in 2013, awarded yearly by the Unicredit & Universities Foundation to Italian economists under the age of 25. His research has been funded by the Russell Sage Foundation and the NET Institute.
