Biography

Tommy Bruhn is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen in the Faculty of Humanities. His main area of research is the way relationships in communities are rhetorically constituted, managed, and negotiated through everyday interactions. Bruhn has a particular interest in issues of pluralism and conviviality, examining how differences play out in the rhetorical milieu of people's everyday lives. His research has focused on pluralism, rhetorical theory, and criticism, exploring topics such as rhetorical ambiguity in political leadership and community formation across popular and online cultures. Currently, he is engaged in studying the Internordic rhetorical relationships online, perceived polarization in Swedish media discourse, and the vernacular rhetoric surrounding Sweden’s NATO application process. In addition to his research, Bruhn teaches Rhetorical Theory Analysis and Rhetorical Writing, among other courses, at both the BA and MA levels, and has supervised numerous theses. He serves on various editorial boards and participates actively in conferences and workshops related to his fields of study.
