Biography

Tommy Svensson is a Full Professor at Chalmers University of Technology, specializing in Communication Systems. He leads research in Wireless Systems, focusing on air interface and wireless backhaul networking technologies. He received his Ph.D. in Information Theory from Chalmers in 2003 and has experience working at Ericsson AB in core, radio access, and microwave networks. Svensson has made significant contributions to various European projects like WINNER I/II, ARTIST4G, METIS, and Hexa-X, particularly in advancing 5G and next-generation 6G technologies. His research interests include mobile communication system design and analysis, physical layer algorithms, resource allocation, and cooperative communications, among others. He has co-authored six books and over 111 journal papers, in addition to numerous conference papers. Svensson is a founding member and editor of the IEEE JSAC Series on Machine Learning for Communications Networks and has held leadership roles in several IEEE societies. He is also the lead organizer for the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2023 and coordinator of the Communication Engineering Master’s Program at Chalmers.
