Biography

Toni van Gennip is an Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at Radboud University. He studied Dutch Law at Radboud University Nijmegen, graduating with a Master's degree in 2007. During his studies, he spent one semester at the University of Fribourg, conducting research for his Master's thesis on the role of the Swiss judge in interpreting vague and silent laws. In 2010, he obtained a Master of Arts in Philosophy, focusing on ethics and legal hermeneutics. He has experience working as a paralegal in a small law firm and interned at Kennedy & Van der Laan in Amsterdam. After graduating, he worked for the Ministry of Economic Affairs before returning to academia in November 2011 as a lecturer in Legal Theory at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In November 2014, he started teaching Constitutional Law at Radboud University and obtained his PhD in 2021, focusing on the revision of the Dutch Constitution under the supervision of Prof. Paul Bovend'Eert. In addition to his academic role, he is involved in various teaching and editorial activities, including contributing to the blog at www.nederlandrechtsstaat.nl.
