Dr. Tony Cousins

Biography

Tony Cousins is an Emeritus Professor at Macquarie University and a fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities. He has published fourteen books, including works on Thomas More and Shakespeare's non-dramatic verse from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, as well as numerous refereed articles in international journals. He serves on the editorial boards of Moreana and the Journal of Language, Literature and Culture. His research interests cover literature and culture in early modern England, historiography, the history of ideas, and utopian narratives. He has held positions as a Visiting Adjunct Professor at the Renaissance Studies Center at the University of Massachusetts and as a Visiting Scholar at Princeton and Penn State. Additionally, Cousins has been a Library Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an Honorary Fellow at the Institute for Research in the Humanities. He holds doctorates in English Literature and Political Theory.
