Biography

Tony Jun Huang received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2005. He is a William Bevan Distinguished Professor at Duke University's Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and also holds positions in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Huang’s research interests include acoustofluidics, microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip, biomedical micro-electro-mechanical systems (BioMEMS), optofluidics, and plasmofluidics. He has authored or co-authored over 300 peer-reviewed journal publications that have been cited more than 38,000 times, with a notable h-index of 104 according to Google Scholar. His innovation has led to 30 issued and pending patents in various fields. Dr. Huang's work has earned him several prestigious accolades including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director's New Innovator Award and recognition as a Fellow in multiple professional societies such as the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
