Professor Dr. Tony Michaels

Biography

Tony Michaels is an accomplished academic and co-founder of Proteus Environmental Technologies, where he serves as the Managing Director. His work focuses on promoting environmental research innovation within universities and assisting in the commercialization of transformative discoveries to address major environmental challenges. He was a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California, where he also directed the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies from 1996 to 2008. During his tenure, he contributed to developing programs that connect academic research with societal needs, driving rapid commercialization of new environmental technologies. Michaels has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has extensive experience in environmental research and entrepreneurship, specializing in areas such as waste treatment, green energy, and ocean pollution. Through his leadership at Proteus, he is committed to creating technological solutions that promote sustainable practices and address pressing global environmental issues.
