Biography

Tony G. Reames is an Associate Professor and the Tishman Professor of Environmental Justice at the University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability. He is also the Director of the SEAS Detroit Sustainability Clinic. His research focuses on advancing equitable access to affordable and reliable clean energy, examining the root causes of persistent energy disparities related to race, income, and geography. He founded the Urban Energy Justice Lab and the Energy Equity Project, and previously served in senior positions including Senior Advisor on Economic Impact and Diversity within the U.S. Department of Energy during the Biden-Harris Administration. He has a strong academic background with a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Kansas, a Master of Engineering Management from Kansas State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Reames is also a licensed professional engineer with experience in both the public and private sectors and has served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.
