Dr. Torben Rasmussen

Biography

Torben Valdbjørn Rasmussen is a senior researcher at BUILD – Institute of Architecture, Design and Sustainability at Aalborg University, Copenhagen. He holds a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and a PhD from RISØ/DTU. His research focuses on future building materials, their application, performance, and durability. Originally a materials mechanic, his specializations include material mechanics, technology, building physics, modeling, and experimental work, which forms the basis for describing the properties and functionalities of construction materials. Torben conducts lectures, courses, and teaches building requirements, building technology, the performance of building components, and building physics. He coordinates the Master's degree in Building Physics at BUILD, Aalborg University, and serves as a reviewer for various international journals, engaged project leader, and author of several Danish Standards, BUILD reports, and guides. He has been appointed as a member of the IDA's expert team and expert panel to the climate adaptation portal, and has contributed text to various climate adaptation platforms. Additionally, Torben has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on building physics and developed testing methods, including those for Nordtest.
